My Layout just got started a couple of months ago so its not very big yet but its turned out good so far. I built the table that it is built on entirely out of pieces I scrounged from construction sites. The basic plan I have for my lacout is that I want it too be a two track main line with loops on both ends to ensure continuos running. One of the loops will include sidings and will be my staging yard. My entire railroad will be in N scale even though I havce a whole basemenbt to build it in. The main reason for this is that I dont have alot of money or a job so I am relying on luck and myu allowence to supply me with the supplies I need. The land will be modeled after the spessart region of Germany because I've always felt a fascination for european trains and every timne I visited my grandma in Laufach/Fronhoffen Germany I always sat and watched the trains cruise through the beutifull countryside. Right now the only train I have in my layout is a santa fe highballer. Yes I know it doewsn't fit but it sure fits my budget. I plan on getting some modern electric European Trains from tyhe sweetest store in town, Discount Trains in Shops at the Bluffs. All the foilage on my layout is a dark green since the are I am modeling is in a very wet and rainy climate where the trees grow up to 4 times the height of a train or more.
